Terms of Use
Last updated: July 8, 2026
Welcome to Hovi. Hovi helps small groups pick a place to meet by finding the midpoint between everyone's locations and suggesting nearby venues. By downloading or using Hovi you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
Who can use Hovi
You must be at least 13 years old to use Hovi. If you're under the age required to consent to these terms where you live, you need a parent or guardian's permission.
Your account
- You can use Hovi anonymously, or sign in with Apple or Google. Either way, you're responsible for activity that happens through your account on your device.
- You can delete your account at any time from the profile screen. Deletion is permanent and removes every record tied to your account.
Acceptable use
Keep Hovi a good place to make plans. You agree not to:
- Harass, threaten, or abuse other participants — including in session chat. Be the person people want to meet up with.
- Send spam, scams, or unlawful content through chat or display names.
- Submit deliberately false locations to manipulate a group's midpoint or results.
- Use Hovi for any illegal purpose, or in a way that violates the rights of others.
- Probe, overload, scrape, or otherwise interfere with the service or attempt to access data that isn't yours.
We may remove content or suspend access for conduct that violates these rules.
Your content
Display names and chat messages you submit remain yours. You give us the limited permission needed to show them to the other participants of your session. Session content is temporary by design — it's deleted when the session ends or within 24 hours (see our Privacy Policy for details).
Venue information
Venue details (names, photos, ratings, hours, drive times) come from third-party services such as Google Maps Platform and OSRM. We don't control that data and can't guarantee it's accurate or current — a venue may be closed, moved, or different from how it appears. Always double-check before heading out.
Meeting in real life
Hovi suggests places; it doesn't vet them, and it doesn't vet the people you choose to meet. You are responsible for your own safety when meeting others in person. Use your judgment, meet in public places, and let someone know where you're going.
Disclaimers
Hovi is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't promise the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that venue suggestions will fit every occasion.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Hovi and its creator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app — including anything that happens at or on the way to a meetup arranged through it.
Termination
You can stop using Hovi at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if these terms are violated. Sections that by their nature should survive (disclaimers, limitation of liability) survive termination.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the app evolves. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent version. Continuing to use Hovi after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
